My Year With Helen director/producer Gaylene Preston was announced as a Dame Companion of the Order of New Zealand in the 2019 New Year’s Honours List in recognition of her services to film. The honour was conferred by Her Excellency The Right Honourable Dame Patsy Reddy, the Governor General of New Zealand on May 15 in a ceremony at Government House in Auckland.
